Lenovo Legion Y700 Infinite: An 8.4-Inch OLED Gaming Tablet with 5G That Weighs 298 Grams

Lenovo will launch the Legion Y700 Infinite in China on August 25, 2026. The device is the first in the Y700 series to combine an OLED display with cellular connectivity. It is also smaller, lighter, and more powerful than the Legion Tab Gen 5 that Lenovo released globally earlier this year.

The Display: OLED at 165Hz

The Y700 Infinite uses an 8.4-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 2560 by 1600 pixels, a 165Hz refresh rate, and a 3,400Hz instantaneous touch-sampling rate. Lenovo claims a local peak brightness of 4,000 nits and full DCI-P3 coverage with a Delta E value below 1. The screen uses DC dimming at mid-to-high brightness and 3,840Hz PWM dimming at lower levels. Lenovo states this is the first gaming tablet to receive TÜV Rheinland’s full-system Eye Comfort 5.0 certification.

The display includes a centered punch-hole for the front-facing camera. This replaces the thicker top bezel on the Gen 5, allowing slimmer side bezels overall. The tradeoff is a small interruption in the screen area. Lenovo markets a touch algorithm called « AI Pixel Sniper » that claims to improve aiming precision in shooters.

The Chip: Overclocked to 4.74GHz

Lenovo confirmed the Y700 Infinite runs an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with CPU speeds peaking at 4.74GHz. The standard variant of this chip tops out at approximately 4.47GHz. Lenovo’s official Weibo account posted an AnTuTu score of 4,585,844, which exceeds the average result for the RedMagic Astra 2 in AnTuTu’s monthly charts.

The cooling system is a 15,000mm² vapor chamber with the processor mounted centrally to keep the grip areas cooler. Lenovo claims the grip area stays 4°C cooler than a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phone with active cooling. The tablet pairs the chip with LPDDR5T memory and UFS 4.1 Pro storage.

5G and Dual-SIM

The Y700 Infinite adds 5G cellular connectivity, a first for the Y700 line. It supports dual-SIM standby with one physical SIM and one eSIM, the N79 5G band, and a multi-antenna system designed to maintain signal regardless of orientation. Previous Y700 models were Wi-Fi only.

Battery and Charging

The battery capacity is 7,470mAh, smaller than the 9,000mAh cell in the Gen 5 but consistent with the more compact body. Lenovo claims 20.64 hours of video streaming on a full charge. Charging is 68W wired with bypass charging support. Lenovo states the tablet reaches 80% in 30 minutes.

Size and Weight

The Y700 Infinite measures approximately 187 by 120mm and is 6.5mm thick. Weight is reported at 298 grams by some sources and 310 grams by others. Either way, it is roughly 50 grams lighter than the Gen 5.

Cameras and Ports

The rear camera is 50MP. The front camera is 8MP in a punch-hole cutout. The tablet has dual USB-C ports, allowing simultaneous charging and accessory connection.

Configurations and Pricing

According to leaker Digital Chat Station, the Y700 Infinite will launch in three configurations: 12GB RAM with 256GB storage, 16GB with 512GB, and 16GB with 1TB. Some sources also mention a 24GB RAM option. Lenovo has not confirmed pricing.

Global Availability

Lenovo has not announced a global launch. The company typically releases Legion tablets in China first, then brings modified versions to other markets months later. The Gen 5 launched in China in March 2026 and reached global markets as the Legion Tab Gen 5 in May.

Verdict

The Y700 Infinite addresses the two biggest complaints about the Gen 5: the IPS LCD display and the lack of cellular connectivity. The OLED panel, 5G, and lighter weight make it a more compelling travel device. The overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 and aggressive cooling suggest Lenovo is targeting competitive mobile gamers who want maximum frame rates.

The tradeoffs are real. The battery is smaller than the Gen 5’s. The punch-hole camera interrupts the screen. The price is unknown but will likely exceed the Gen 5’s $699 global launch price. And global availability remains uncertain.

For buyers in China, the Y700 Infinite is an easy recommendation if the price is reasonable. For buyers elsewhere, the question is whether Lenovo will release it globally and when. The Gen 5 is already one of the best compact gaming tablets available. The Infinite improves on it in the areas that matter most. That is enough to make it worth waiting for.
